Promotional Contests
Holding blog contests can greatly improve traffic to your website or blog. If you have a product for sale, offering free samples as a reward/prize can increase publicity even more.
The blogging community tend to love giveaways and I have been on the receiving end of one with my Winning The Web T-shirt last week.
One of the best known bloggers out there, John Chow, is currently holding a contest alongside Bic Promotional Pens and is giving away two Flip Video cameras. In order to be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is reply to John Chow’s post here for one point into the contest and blog about the contest (like I’ve done here) in exchange for an additional five entries.
Contests like these are exceptional for promotion of new products and are a great way to expose your website and brand to more people. A website selling Bic Pens will be expecting a lot of traffic from this contest; with great exposure on John Chow’s blog and then posts like this one to further boost their brand, it is not directly marketed at their existing customers and looks to increase their market considerably over the next month.
Best of luck to everybody, although I would really like one of those cameras and don’t forget my current contest where you get a link in my blogroll (wow, I really do need better prizes!)
First Contest - Entrecard Dropping
One service, created to boost traffic to blogs has grown from strength to strength, with some of the most well known bloggers featuring the widget on their own websites.
If you own a blog, you have no doubt already heard of Entrecard, this is the third blog that I have setup that has made use of Entrecard as a way of driving traffic. As I write this, I have 38ec (Entrecard Credits) in the account that I have created for this website. The fastest way to gain credits is by dropping your card on other blogs, this was, once upon a time made very easy by Power Dropping lists and pages, but as of July 1st, all blogs and bloggers making use of these services will be closed.
My plan is to encourage people to visit this site and drop their card legitimatly, and the first method is by offering a simple contest. Next Saturday, at some point, I will be taking a look at my Entrecard Statistics and whoever has dropped their card more times than anybody else over the next seven days will receive a link in my blog roll until the first of August.
If more than one person has dropped the same number of times, then I will use the Random List generator to decide who gets the link.
I know this contest isn’t the most exciting thing in the world but it is a start. I’ve got plans for this blog and I hope that I can slowly expand the readership and encourage advertisers to offer products and services to the readers in exchange for exposure on the blog.
I’ve Won the Web
Yes, that is a picture of me. Back when I was posting regularly on ‘1 Man’, I voted for a guy named Gyutae Park in a competition against Tyler Cruz which you can read more about here or here.
I submitted my vote for Gyutae, based purely on the fact that he was giving away t-shirts to everybody who did so. Going into this competition as the under-dog, this method of giving away the T-shirts eventually led to him Winning the competition (as well as the ‘web’ *sigh*) by just four votes.
As a thank you to Gyutae, I’m posting this image of me produly wearing my Winning the Web t-shirt and I can honestly say that it is the first big of “swag” that I have received and would love to get some more sent over.
Both Winning the Web and Tyler Cruz are great resources for anybody looking at making money online as they feature invaluable tips for both bloggers and internet marketers in general.
