Do-Follow Forums

August 11, 2008 · Filed Under General

As I have mentioned previously, this blog is classed as do-follow. This means that I allow people to comment on my posts and in return I encourage the search engines to visit their websites. I believe that by taking the time to read my comments and post their experiences, the people who are commenting are improving this blog and they should be rewarded for their time. Do-Follow is my way of rewarding them and if you scroll to the blogs footer, you will see that I have also added a Top-Commentors section where they are being promoted even further.

One of these commentors has put together a list of Do-Follow Forums. As opposed to commenting away on blogs, you could join one (or more) of these forums and it will have the same affect - allowing search engines to visit any links you post.

If you do join forums, join ones that you are interested in - so that you can contribute worthwhile information for the other users. You could add a link or two to your signature (some forums have their own rules regarding this) and you may also provide links to your own website/s where they are relevant.

I will have to check that out - Some forums can be great, others are a little uptight that if you dare put a link in before you’ve made 100 posts they’ll ban you and call you a spammer - even if the link is totally related to the discussion and would actually help somebody.

Have you heard of they keyword luv plug-in? I have it on some of my blogs - it gives your commenters a keyword link instead of their name (or in the case of people with names like “luxury tampa bay homes” - let’s them show their real identity while having their keywords still…)

I’m going to have to take a look at the keyword luv plugin.

I really love the CommentLuv plugin, and I suppose that these will complement one another nicely.

It’s always nice to find listings of do-follow websites. I’ve seen do-follow social bookmarking networks, do-follow press release networks, do-follow blogs and now do-follow forums. Unfortunately, the PageRank of those pages is usually very low and in the short term it can be harmful to have too many low PR websites pointing to yours if you don’t have other solid links helping you out.

First off, thanks for the do follow.

It’s always nice to see people contributing to the online community. I’m still learning, but when I can I always try to offer something insightful. You mentioned forums. This is a great idea because of the link credit you can get from them, but also, it allows you to give back to the community in some way. For instance, simply taking part in forum conversation and offering any type of knowledge you have to offer.

I know we are all trying to better our position, but we can still do it in a way that also helps the people that are doing things that benefit us.

Thank you for this post, for sharing, and for your openness.

Thanks for the dofollow forum. I’ve been researching this and while dofollow leads to PR juice, you shouldn’t count out nofollow commenting. You can still get “keyword” juice for seo but you just won’t get the PR boost. I think it’s good to balance things out so it doesn’t look like you’re just going for PR rank. jmho. Thanks for the blog and I agree it does encourage commenting.

ps. love CommentLuv, that’s a sweet plugin.
