A new service has been launched which allows you to become a magpie and earn money from Twitter. This new service, named Be a Magpie looks to match common words that you tweet with willing advertisers and earn you money in return for exposure of their message.

The website itself looks quite professional but in order to create an account, you must give them your Twitter password. This could be dangerous, and I can envisage people setting up similar-looking services in order to gain access to Twitter accounts.

The first step of the signup process will evaluate your Twitter account and estimate how much you are likely to earn on a monthly basis. I’ve been told I could potentially earn 0.44 Euros per month (according to XE.com is 0.566309 USD).

Even if this service was to offer me substantially more money each month, I wouldn’t be signing up. People are signing up to become my followers to hear about what I am doing and what I have to say, not to be bombarded with advertising messages. I’m sure my 16 followers will agree that they would prefer not to receive marketing messages via Twitter and if anybody I follow starts using a service like this, I won’t be following them for much longer.

Subvert & Profit #2

It’s been a long while since my last post. No excuses, I’ve just neglected this blog for other things.

I wanted to update you all on Subvert & Profit, which I discussed in my last post. Since posting, their system has grown with the addition of YouTube, NewsVine and iLike. So you can now get paid to Digg, Stumble, Like, Vote on NewsVine and Favourite on YouTube, WOW!

There were quite a few comments from people, regarding the last post and I will try and answer common questions here.

Won’t Digg be Unhappy about this? –
There isn’t an easy way for Digg to discover who is profiting from this service. All links out of S&P are sent via referhide.com, so Digg cannot track who has come from the website. Also, you are asked to vote for 4 other random articles at the same time as the paid one, so it hides sporadic activity on your account.
Do they pay via PayPal? – Subvert & Profit currently only payout via AlertPay.

Get Paid to Digg

One of the greatest ways to drive enormous amounts of traffic to your website is to achieve the holy grail that is the homepage of Digg. According to Alexa, Digg is the 125th most visited website in the world and having your website/article promoted on their homepage has caused problems for some website owners due to the shear amount of traffic that is generated.

A system called Subvert & Profit was created as a way to allow people to pay others to promote their websites in both the Digg and StumbleUpon systems. I signed up as a ‘Social User’ and have been promoting other peoples Digg stories in return for a little bit of cash.

The current prices are shown on this page. The main figure I’m interested in is the payouts: currently set at $0.75USD for each vote you make and a minimum cashout value of $10USD via AlertPay. I actually reached the payout level this weekend and received payment of $10.50USD via AlertPay this morning. Sadly AlertPay have charged a $0.51 transaction fee, which leaves me with $9.99.

Bloggerwave Payments

Not long ago I signed up to BloggerWave, a great way for bloggers to make money by reviewing other peoples products. Upon signing up there were three opportunities instantly available to me.

I reviewed one of the products on this very blog, and one of them on my product review blog and I received payment VERY quickly. Unlike other pay-to-blog websites, you get paid for each review individually so you aren’t waiting for your account balance to grow before getting any of your money.

The payout was via PayPal and came through approximatly two weeks after making each post. I’m very impressed with the service and I am currently awaiting more opportunities to be made available to me. I would highly recommend BloggerWave to anybody who is looking to earn money blogging.
