Tracking Yourself in Google Blog Search
I was quite impressed this weekend. After I had published my post about the new OIO Publisher Coupon, I received notice from Feed Demon to say that my Google Blog Search feed had been updated. This feed pretty much looks for my name cropping up in the blog search. It had not been long since I published the post, yet I had been alerted to the fact it had been indexed by Google already.

As you can see from the screenshot above, Google was displaying the fact that it had only been added to their listings 29 minutes earlier. There were two further posts being displayed above my own for the term “OIO Publisher Coupon” and looking at it now – there is just one.
I hadn’t seen results like these before from Google, but after a little research I found that it was quite common.
Reasons for this Post
There are two main reasons for me making this post. The first is to draw your attention to the attentiveness Google show to pings they receive from blogs and secondly the importance of keeping track of your own name in the Blog Search results. If somebody is discussing you on their blog, you need to know about it. Nothing would please them more than you quickly finding out about their post and making a comment. Branding You!
Rather than go into further detail, I will pass the baton to Gary Vaynerchuk who made a great video regarding this exact practice.
